Dry Eye Syndrome
Dry eye syndrome usually belongs to the group of so-called ‘diseases of civilisation’. It is frequently seen in employees working for a long time in air conditioned or extremely over heated areas. It also affects those who use computers or work in a dusty environment over a long period. This disease is caused by the insufficient creation or the poor quality of the person’s own tears. Dry eye syndrome is manifested in itching, scratching or burning eyes. Another symptom includes a sense of dryness in the eye or the gluing of eyelashes.
The simplest assistance is the long-term application of artificial tears. However, in some cases, we encounter dry eye syndrome which is one of the symptoms of a systemic disease. In such cases, treatment is much more demanding and requires interdepartmental cooperation.
